North Shore Summer Wedding

Skyler and Josh got married along the North Shore at Grand Superior Lodge in Two Harbors, Minnesota. It was a hot and sunny day. Like I mentioned in their engagement blog post here, Josh is from the UK. Incredibly enough, all his friends were able to fly over and participate as his wedding party. They were all suited up in wool suits, despite the July heat, looking snazzy. Yes, even that far North along Lake Superior, it can get quite hot. Be prepared when planning your wedding or elopement!

The day was calm, detail-oriented and beautiful. The tables were marked with all the locations the couple has visited together, which was such a cute detail that stood out to me. As well, Skyler’s dad had unfortunately passed away, so she attached charms on the backs of her heels to make sure he was still included in the day and walking with her down the aisle!

The ceremony was short and sweet, but that was perfect due to the July sun beating down on the patio. The Grand Superior Lodge has a balcony that overlooks that ceremony site, so if you have a second photographer, this is the perfect spot to get some photographs from above. After the ceremony, we took some portraits down by the lake before rejoining the party. The celebration kicked off with a choreographed dance, which was so fun to photograph. One of Skyler’s close friends in attendance actually helped with the choreography. After that, everyone enjoyed cupcakes and moved outside to the fire, or down to the lake. We ended the night down by the lake, getting absolutely swarmed by mosquitoes, but that dampened no one’s fun.

I highly recommend this venue if you’re looking for a versatile venue right on Lake Superior to celebrate and offers sleeping accommodations. There’s tons of beautiful areas to take portraits at, and you can’t beat a sunset with that lake view. Summer weddings here are wonderful too because it stays light for so long. Even if the weather turns moody, it’s still a beautiful sight to behold. Enjoy some highlights from their wedding day!
