Interstate State Park Engagement Session
One thing I always ask my couples for is the story about how they met. Skyler and Josh met while working at a summer camp together. Josh was working here for the summer, as he lived in the UK at the time. Once the summer came to a wrap, they made sure to hang onto the connection they felt developing. It just goes to show you never know where or when you’ll meet the love of your life.
Skyler and Josh chose Interstate State Park for their engagement session. It was mid-July and there had just been a ton of rain, so we were unfortunately battling monstrously huge mosquitoes the entire time we hiked the bluffs (I can confidently say I’ve never seen mosquitoes this big, they may as well have been flies!) but these two were troopers throughout the whole ordeal. Josh, having just moved here from the UK, began developing small welts from the bites so we hustled over to the visitor center. Thankfully they relented once we arrived at the glacial potholes. We explored the nooks and crannies around us, finding pockets of quiet spaces all to ourselves despite the lot being quite full.
Also joining us was their pup, which is always fun, but can present some unique challenges. Ideally, I recommend bringing someone else along that can help handle the dog throughout the session, or bringing your dog along for the first half of the session and having someone bring them home so you can wholly focus on the session. I didn’t suggest that for this session, and since it was the first time a couple has brought their dog along, it was a learning moment for me. I recommend bringing some treats for your pup too! An enticing treat is hard to ignore and makes getting them to pose beside you much easier.
