Engagement Session at Interstate State Park

If you’ve never been to Interstate State Park in Taylors Fall, Minnesota and you live in the area, I highly recommend taking an afternoon to explore the amazing features that are the glacial potholes. Despite most of the accessible potholes being flooded, it’s still an amazing sight to behold with tons of information to find scattered about the park. You can also take a hike up to the bluffs overlooking the river for a stunning view of the St. Croix River. A bug repellent of sorts is also highly recommended, especially in the summer months—a natural oil blend or something with deet, whatever floats your boat! The mosquitoes are not to be trifled with. Thankfully, at this point, fall was upon us and the mosquitoes were long gone.

This engagement session was so fun. Summer and Shane are dear friends of mine. I’ve known Shane since high school (marching band buddies!) and Summer and I are both Ojibwe (me Leech Lake, her Red Lake) so we connected very fast. My husband and I actually ended up getting to spend the weekend with them when he proposed in Virginia, so getting asked to take their engagement photos was a huge deal to me. It felt very full circle, especially because my husband and I will be attending their wedding as guests. I am so, so excited to celebrate with them!

Chi-miigwech to Summer and Shane for the honor of documenting this milestone for them. I think the images really captured their personalities and chemistry. Gimaamiikwenimigo, congratulations!
