FAQ

What is your approach to photography?

I’m here to observe and capture your day as it unfolds organically. I’d say I have a documentary or candid style with a creative flair. Any poses I’ll have you do will involve some type of movement or interaction that will create images that feel authentic to your character + the moment they were taken.

I’m quick on the capture + have a keen eye for detail, so you’re free to enjoy your day to the fullest knowing I’m getting all those unforgettable, golden memories! Please be sure to let me know if golden hour or certain photos are important to you, and I’ll be sure we make it happen. Otherwise, I try not to pull you away from the day you’ve planned so long for.

Do you travel?

Yes, I love to travel and I love planning trips. I’m from the midwest, I fear roadtripping is in my DNA.

My travel fees vary depending on location, season, and time of booking. I handle all of my own bookings, and I’m upfront about costs from the start so there are no surprises. Travel usually covers transportation, simple and safe lodging, and a modest food stipend for meals outside of the wedding day so I’m fueled and ready for your celebration.

Once I know your plans, I’ll send a clear travel quote so you know exactly what to expect.

How many hours do I need?

That all depends on how much of your day you want documented.

If you want simple, barebones coverage (just the ceremony, family formals, and some reception coverage), I’d say 4-6 hours would suffice.

If you want more details documented, are getting ready at a separate location, want to do a first look, and want the reception highlights covered (speeches, first dances, cake) 8-10 hours would better suit your needs.

And if you’re wanting start-to-finish coverage, which includes all those juicy and personable moments from your day, 12 hours is what you’re looking for. This is my personal favorite way to document a day.

Multi-day coverage is typically for cultural weddings + events, and customized elopement adventures (which I can officiate, if needed!)

Can we add more hours later?

Definitely! Sometimes we want to stop at another location for portraits or include more things than we realized we had initially planned time for.

Additional coverage is available for $200 per hour.

How many photos will we get, and when?

My timeframe for gallery deliveries is 12 weeks from your event’s date. I normally deliver anywhere from 50-100 images per hour I’m photographing, but that really does depend on the event itself, its attendees, and the timeline.

I deliver all images culled, fully edited, and ready for print. You’ll receive your images via an online gallery (Pixieset) where it is then your responsibility to download, print, and save them. Galleries expire after one year, so be sure to download your gallery right away.

Will you Photoshop me to look (insert false narrative here)?

I mean it so kindly when I say, absolutely not. First, I’m not great at Photoshop. My skills lie with removing background distractions, and even then it can prove to be a challenge. More importantly, us humans are perfectly-imperfect the way we are. I will help you see that during our time together. All I ask is you allow yourself to be open to the possibility that you are perfectly kick-ass just the way you are.

How many weddings do you do a year?

I take on about 15-20 weddings a year, and rarely do I ever do double-header weekends (multiple weddings in a weekend.) My season normally starts in May and ends in November, give or take a wedding or session here and there.

When should we book you?

Six months to one year in advance has been standard in my experience, although I’ve received plenty of short-notice + same-year bookings. As much as I want to, I can’t always accommodate short-notice bookings, so be sure to reach out with plenty of time before your event to ensure your date is available.

I’m awkward in front of the camera — can you help?

Absolutely! I love tooting my own horn about how comfortable I’ve made past clients feel while being photographed by me. I’ll assist with posing when necessary, hype you up in a way that’s conducive to you, and review some images with you so you can see the amazing work you’re putting in!

Do you pose us, or just capture candids?

Clients typically have me do both. In our initial meeting, I make sure to ask about your preferences so I can best capture your day.

Since my style + approach is more off-hands, documentary/candid, I make sure to ask clients in our initial meeting whether or not formal moments + portraits are an important addition to their day. For the most part, I’ll be staying out of your hair and simply documenting how the day unfolds.

What if it rains?

The show must go on!

Jokes aside, if the weather isn’t severe I leave it up to the clients. I’m always down to splash through some puddles since my camera + gear is weather-proofed!

Can I have the RAWs?

Yes, with the understanding that the RAW files are not image files, and you need special software (like Lightroom) to make them such. You purchasing the RAWs does not mean you purchased the copyright to the images.

You can purchase the RAW files from your day for $3k.
