Surprise Proposal at Palisade Head

Dominic reached out to me wanting to surprise Julie with an unforgettable proposal at Palisade Head, which of course I was pumped for. It’s an iconic spot along the North Shore for a good reason. It’s stunning — a dramatic, yet romantic spot to propose. Turns out, Julie was onto him, but had no idea when or where he would pop the question. Luckily, the parking lot at the top was open, so they didn’t have to hike the half mile up to the top. It’s a short hike, but a steep one!

Planning these stealthy sessions are always exciting and fun for me. I love the logistics of planning all the details and accounting for all the possibilities that would make me problem solve on the spot. And since I live a few hours from Silver Bay, I was meticulous in my planning. I got there a day early to scope out and confirm the plan we’d made. I even marked the spot on the ground with an ‘X’ — just two little twigs on the ground to mark where I wanted them positioned. It’s such a special moment when everything comes together and the plan goes off without a hitch, which it did! My presence wasn’t even noticed until Dominic pointed me out.

Enjoy some highlights from their surprise proposal! After Julie said yes, we took some time before their dinner plans to capture some portraits along the cliffside. Were my knees weak? Maybe. Did the photos turn out beautifully? Definitely.
