Minnewashta Regional Park Pre-Wedding Session
I love photographing at a place I’ve never been to before. Grace and John suggested Minnewashta Regional Park which is located in Chanhassen, Minnesota. When we got there, the weather was lovely. The sun was shining bright, which got us in even brighter spirits for their wedding the following day. They led the way through the park and I guided us to the best light in those areas. Minnewashta Regional Park has tons of water features, a large dock to walk out on, and plenty of nooks and crannies for a variety of backdrops.
This session was the perfect reminder that you don’t need to pick the most iconic location in your area to achieve nice portraits. Simplicity is beautiful. Simply having a story and honoring that connection to the land is meaningful enough. This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy photographing the popular spots (they’re popular for a reason!) but I believe intentionality lays the strongest, best foundation to build off. That’s why I ask my clients questions about themselves and what’s important to them; it helps me approach sessions with each couple uniquely because every couple has their own story to tell.
I can’t wait to share their wedding, but until then, please enjoy highlights from their laid-back pre-wedding portrait session.
