Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Wedding

Avery reached out to me with a vision for her wedding day, and I was so game. She knew exactly what she wanted: romantic, moody, movie-like photos on top of some candid coverage. Avery and I met at the Arboretum before the wedding to go over the in’s and out’s of what’s planned. I was so grateful for this because, if you’ve never been, the grounds are quite expansive with tons of greenery and florals coming and going as the seasons shift. We toured her chosen locations before the wedding day to plan out all the shots and ideas. I’ve never had the opportunity to visit the venue with the bride before; usually I’m by myself or with the coordinator. So by the time we parted ways, I was beyond excited for what we had planned for their photos.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum offers an endless variety and backdrops, all rather accessible thanks to the paved trails! A big bonus too: if you’re getting married at the arboretum, I believe you get a free pass to take your engagement photos there as well! Otherwise a photography permit is required to be reserved ahead of time for a fee. Something to consider if you’re browsing venues. My personal favorite time to go is during the crab apple blossoming; truly idyllic.

Avery and Jon’s wedding day was perfect — overcast but still sunny; warm but not sweltering; breezy but not windy. Getting ready, the entire afternoon their whole group was kind and filled with excitement for the looming celebration. Dani, their 13 year old Samoyed, was the ring bearer, and she did a great job. You can just see she’s so happy to just bear witness to her humans’ joy. This was only my second wedding here at the Landscape Arboretum, but I hope I will have many more in the future. As an avid nature lover, this is probably one of my favorite venues I’ve had the pleasure and opportunity to photograph at.

Enjoy!
