Surprise Proposal in Minneapolis

This was the first surprise proposal in my books, but I definitely hope it wasn’t the last. I had two goals for A + B’s proposal: 1) don’t get spotted and 2) include the beautiful Minneapolis skyline in the background. I think I achieved that beautifully! Brendan reached out with a really solid plan — he was taking Abby to see a show at the Guthrie in the afternoon and wanted to take a nice walk across Stone Arch Bridge afterward, followed by some portraits along St. Anthony Main and a celebratory Guinness at Nye’s Bar. I marked a spot on the bridge to let Brendan know where I wanted him to pop the question. I waited patiently until spotting them a ways down the bridge. When they reached the marked spot, I swooped in to get the photos, staying far enough back as to not disturb the happy couple’s moment. Brendan popped the question so fast — it was a beautiful blur of elation. Congratulations to Abby and Brendan! You can feel their happiness through these images, and that’s really what my goal is when documenting these kinds of special moments for couples.
