Hook & Ladder Theater Reception
Sarah and Ezra's love story was beautiful to listen to when we first met. After their intimate elopement in Ireland, they brought the celebration back home to Minnesota with a reception that perfectly captured their relaxed and fun-loving personalities. From heartfelt moments at home with their dog to rooftop portraits, a cannabis tent, and her grandfather’s self-built vintage car, this day was filled with so many unique touches and immense love.
Before the festivities began, we started the day with a first look at their home. Their dog, who couldn’t be part of their Ireland elopement, finally got their moment in the spotlight as we captured some sweet and playful family photos. While their cat politely declined to participate in the festivities, the pup was more than happy to be part of the show.
Sarah and Ezra’s reception was held at Hook and Ladder Theater in Minneapolis. Hook and Ladder is pretty unique, so I was excited to photograph a reception there. Held in a cozy theater and lounge, the space felt intimate and welcoming, with a vibe that was relaxed yet dramatic. A standout feature was the table of flowers they set up for guests to create their own mini bouquets—a thoughtful and creative touch. They also had a cannabis tent which was a laid-back twist, a first for me. (I hope this becomes a trend that gains some steam.) The cannabis tent quickly becoming a gathering spot for laughter, conversation, and connection. I say cannabis because they offered a variety of items from pre-rolls to edibles.
Sarah and Ezra hired a live band for the first hour of music. Everyone loved them and the dance floor progressively grew crowded as the night went on. Guests of all ages joined in, celebrating with a carefree joy that perfectly matched the tone of the day. The music, laughter, and energy created an atmosphere that felt like a true reflection of their love story—fun, vibrant, and deeply connected.
It was such an honor to capture these moments for them. Getting to witness couples and their love being celebrated by people they hold dearest is always a beautiful thing to witness and document.
