Minneapolis Elopement in Father Hennepin Bluff Park
This was my first elopement in Downtown Minneapolis, and I really hope it’s not my last! I had so much fun planning the timeline for this day with Angela. She was so sweet and fun to talk over ideas with. She sent me her Pinterest board with a specific vision and we agreed on several locations scattered across Downtown. We met at the top of a parking garage in Minneapolis on the day of their elopement. Her and Ryan were high school sweethearts and their plans included him departing for the Air Force sooner rather than later. I hadn’t met them in person before this, but they were so sweet and excited and in love that posing and photographing them came easy.
We took the majority of their portraits before their vow exchange. I think I speak for our little group when I say our stop at the Guthrie was the highlight from the portrait section of the afternoon. From the yellow observation room, we could spot the exact gazebo where they were to be married in just a couple of hours. It sat neatly across the river, framed by canopies, floating above the Stone Arch Bridge.
It was honestly a miracle we were able to stop at all the spots we discussed prior because there was a football event going on at the same time, which made parking quite the task. If you’re planning on eloping or getting married in the cities, be sure to give yourself plenty of cushion time when traveling in between locations, and make a shot list to ensure you make the most of your time at each spot. Even when there aren’t any big events happening in the cities, parking can be challenging. Especially around those iconic photo spots (for good reason!)
After their brief ceremony in front of close family members, toasts were made, and we took the last of their portraits. Below are some highlights I’ve selected that encompass the scope of our time together that afternoon. Congratulations Angela and Ryan!! Miigwech for trusting me with your vision!
